Optical Devices

                                           Zoetrope
the Zoetrope is a type of Optical device, it was made  in 1834 by William Horner who originally called it Daedalum meaning "wheel of the devil". The way you would use this toy would be to make a film like sheet of paper fitting in the wheel with slim movements of you pictures, for instance a person running, the steps would be little movements of the person in action. After you have drawn this sheet of "film" you then place it in the Zoetrope and look through one of the little strips to see the movement of the person. This toy was very popular in the middle 1800's and now a days is you found a Zoetrope I think you would find it very amusing too.

critque

 “Las Meninas”
Hi in my cyber arts class we have to pick an old picture in this book and we have to describe Imitational, Formal, and Emotional qualities. It sounds boring but I have a lot to say.

Imitationalism
I think this picture does imitate realism because obviously you can tell that there are people and the setting is in a living room of some sort maybe a wonderful palace with secret passages. The detail in the picture shows you that there are small children and a couple of adults grading the door way and designing cloths. The lighting on the picture is bright colors like white and yellowswhere the children are and gloomy colors in the back round, I think the girls are standing more in front of awindow to get the light colors and if they were standing more to the back of the room the picture would be more gloomy.

Formalism
In this picture I think formalism is used in some cases very well and in others poorly. Using the principles of design I have judged this painting. The space in this picture is used well the negative and positive space are spread out through the painting witch emphasis the realism, on the other hand movement isn’t really used in this painting its very plain and my eyes aren’t directed all around the painting, they are just attacked to the little girl in the middle of the picture.

Emotionalism
Well this is a very interesting painting because I don’t think that I have very many emotions towards it. My feeling towards this painting is I get bored looking at it there’s not really any emotion, maybe gloomy and depressed; it’s like when you’re a child and you flash back to when you had to stand there when your parents would want to dress you and made you stand there for a long time.

logo

logo design
 1. For my logo design i was thinking of using three different names for my company
"Get the cheese and just smile"
"Snap your shot"
"Cheesy smiles "

2. My company is photograph school for anyone ,adults, children, anyone who want to learn how to use a  camera and photography. We would have many different people working for the company and be starting school when ever you book a class we have available.

3. All for one - everyone works as a team and we work every professional but laid back, we work very well with costumers, and we are very competitive with competition.

4. For my company i chose a caterpillar to represent what kind of work we do. I chose a caterpillar to represent my company because i feel it represents a unity of abilities , in other words it  is an animal that people doesn't really have an opinion, it could be cute, fuzzy, gross anything the point is that about photography doesn't  have not only one opinion people photograph many different things and its up to you to have your own opinion.

lines

 Rhythm Assignment

1. The first lines that I think don’t represent rhythm because there’s no feel to the lines there just the same lines in the same direction with different quality’s, if I were a random person looking at these lines I would say they have no rhythm because they look really boring and the positive and negative space are really being contrasted.

     2. The second line design I did was lines were that I could vary the direction quality and the position of the lines. I think these lines represent rhythm because they make you think about the movement of the lines. For me it makes me look from the top of the box till the middle of the lines where the lines get smaller and thinner.
